First find the Original file that was downloaded when you first purchased the spreadsheet. The file will likely be in your 'Downloads' folder located on your Hard drive. Right Click on the File and Click Copy to prepare to transfer it to where you keep your business documents and files.
Once you’ve copied the file, You have 2 different options for creating a template spreadsheet.
1st Option - Create a Template Folder & Save Template Spreadsheet in Template Folder
The first option is to create a separate template folder where you will save the template file. Simply, Right click, and click create a new folder. In our example, we renamed the folder House Flipping Spreadsheet Template, but feel free to name the folder whatever makes since for your business.
Open up the Template Folder and right click and click paste to paste the template spreadsheet file into the folder.
Once you created your Template Folder and Template File, I would recommend you open up the spreadsheet and input your company information, logos & customize the Remodel Cost Database with your work items and costs that best fit your business and specific market.
Setting up Company Information
To setup company information, navigate to the Property Information sheet by clicking the setup button or the gear icon in the upper right hand corner. This is an important step, because the company information will be used throughout the spreadsheet on reporting letter heads and footers.
Inputting Company Logos
It’s also a good idea to insert your company logos and marketing information on any reports that you will be using frequently. Simply, delete the existing Logo and click insert picture from the menu and insert your logo from your computer. You can then just copy and paste your logo into the remaining reports.
Adjust the Remodeling Cost Database to fit Your Business, Market & Project Needs
I also recommend adjusting the work items and repair costs on the remodel cost estimator to best fit your typical remodel project scope of work and costs.
The remodel cost estimator is completely customizable, so you can change Scopes of Work, Work Item Descrptions and unit costs for each item.
Saving the Template Spreadsheet
Finally, When you’re finished setting up your template, simply click save icon in the upper left hand corner or click File and Save from the Drop down menu.
2nd Option - Saving the Spreadsheet Template using the Save As function
Another option is to perform a Save as function, and rename the spreadsheet as your template file.
And that’s it, you’ve now you’ve got a project Template that you can use for all new and future projects, that will save you valuable time!
